Our Mission

The Straight from a Scientist Podcast cuts the cord from the game of telephone that is science news.  The disconnect between typical science writers and the lab often leaves the public confused and misinformed. We want your updates on cutting edge research to come from the cutting edge itself; straight from a scientist that makes the discoveries to improve our knowledge of the world around us.

We want you to learn the what, the why, and the how of the research we work on every day.

Our podcast records conversations about what’s happening on the cutting edge of science now. Informal interviews probe for answers at a level in which the scientifically interested, but not necessarily scientifically educated person can understand. We also strive to encourage and enable those who are scientifically inclined to further their exploration of science as both an interest and a career.

Our blog articles outline podcasts and fill in knowledge gaps where people with little background in the sciences can brush up on relevant terminology, and view complex pathways boiled down to essential flowcharts.

Like eating from farm to table, getting your science straight from a scientist means it’s unadulterated, and free from ungulate feces. Only unlike organic produce, our science is filled with terms like antibiotics, hormones, and added chemicals.
