Jenna Beam – UNC

Jenna Beam is a PhD candidate in microbiology and immunology at UNC Chapel Hill in Brian Conlon’s lab (https://theconlonlab.com/).  The Conlon lab studie why antibiotics fail in Staph infections.  She graduated with my BS in microbiology from the University of Texas Austin (Hook ’em!) in 2017 and came straight to UNC.  In my free time she likes to travel, hike, and bake (usually for her lab mates).

Jenna also writes for the DNA Day Connect Blog: http://ncdnaday.org/blog/, PassioInventa: https://piphd.com/, and the Pipettepen: http://www.thepipettepen.com/.

Jenna was recently awarded the People’s Choice Award for UNC’s 3-minute thesis competition!
